Ball mills Retsch

The planetary ball mill is the ideal high performance tool when fine and ultrafine grinding of materials is required. In addition to grinding materials to an ultrafine dispersion, colloidal grinding and mechanical alloying are also possible with a ball mill.
With planetary ball mills from Retsch GmbH, soft, medium-hard and hard materials as well as brittle and fibrous samples can be ground and mixed.
Planetary ball mills are most commonly used in the pharmaceutical, metallurgical, chemical and mineralogical industries in analytical laboratories and research universities.
A significant advantage of Retsch planetary ball mills is the ability to grind quickly and powerfully in dry or wet conditions. Depending on the required application, continuous grinding is used, and a temperature and pressure measurement system can be used as an option. The wide range of grinding head materials allows for contamination-free grinding and mixing of samples.
The integrated energy and grinding speed control of Retsch planetary ball mills ensures reproducible sample preparation results.
The principle of operation of a planetary ball mill is based on grinding material in grinding jars filled with ground balls. The grinding jars are attached to the outside of the center of the planetary ball mill disk. The planetary disk moves in the opposite direction to the grinding jars, and at the same time, the grinding balls make rotational movements. The difference between the speeds of the grinding jars and the balls causes impact and friction forces that provide high kinetic energy, and thus a high degree of grinding is possible in planetary ball mills.
